Special Exhibition: Worldwide Barite and Calcite
Jan 28, 2025
The 2025 Denver Gem and Mineral Show (DGMS) as part of the Hardrock Summit is preparing for another exciting year. This year's show theme is “Worldwide Barite and Calcite”. It promises to be a highlight for collectors, educators, and enthusiasts alike, with its carefully curated theme showcasing barite and calcite from global and regional localities. These minerals, rich in geological significance and visual appeal, offer countless opportunities for exhibitors to present rare specimens and for attendees to deepen their appreciation for the natural world.
From the vibrant, multifaceted displays of calcite to the bold, structural beauty of barite, this year's theme embodies the diversity and wonder of mineralogy. As always, the show’s partnership with the Hardrock Summit ensures a world-class platform for discovery, learning, and connection. We invite you to join us in Denver this September to experience these mineral masterpieces up close — and be inspired by the stories they tell.
Hours for the Show are Thursday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 10 am to 3 pm. Admission and parking for Hardrock Summit and DGMS will be FREE.

In addition to the spectacular displays, the DGMS also hosts competitions for club members and special exhibitors, including Adult and Junior Prospector, Best Fossil, and Species Competitions (with separate categories for barite and calcite). Trophies and ribbons are awarded in each category. Exhibitors also compete in the prestigious Richard M. Pearl Competition, where the Richard M. Pearl Trophy is awarded to the exhibitor with the best crystallized mineral specimen in the entire competition.
