The Original Denver Gem & Mineral Show
August 21, 2025
The DGMS (Denver Gem & Mineral Show™) is dedicated to supporting exhibition, exploration, experimentation, and education in the earth sciences. The annual show features a fluorescent room, special exhibits, educational displays, lectures, dealers, gold panning, and grab bags.
Organized by the not-for-profit Greater Denver Area Gem & Mineral Council, the show is a key event for Denver‘s vibrant community of collectors. The Council comprises seven local gem, mineral, and fossil clubs. These clubs host speakers, children’s programs, field trips, symposia, shows, auctions, and social events, many of which are open to the public with modest fees for membership. As a non-profit organization, the Greater Denver Area Gem and Mineral Council, Inc. focuses on charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. Trustees from each member club sit on the Council Board, overseeing the annual show. Twice a year, the Council distributes show proceeds as grants to non-profit organizations, especially those in Colorado, to support public education in the earth sciences.
